Optometrists

Amanda Brand

Amanda first became interested in optometry when she got her first pair of specs aged 13. From there she did work experience with optometrists and completed her bachelor degree in Vision Science at UWA. She was then accepted into Optometry at UNSW. In between her studies, Amanda worked at the Cornea and Contact Lens Research Unit helping with contact lens research and then graduated with honours in 2003.Photo of Amanda Brand, eyecandy's optometrist
Amanda then moved to Broken Hill, where she spent 4 years enjoying the challenges of working in country New South Wales. She was involved in providing eye services to remote communities and also provided school screenings to pick up early childhood vision problems at a local school. She also volunteered her time doing eye screenings at a childrens' festival, Crocfest, in Moree. Amanda also enjoyed the opportunity to work in other country regions around Australia and New Zealand.
Since then, Amanda has moved her young family to her hometown Perth and loves working part-time at fun, friendly and customer centred practice, eyecandy! She hopes to hone her skills in childrens' vision and vision therapy in the future.

Optical Assistants

From time to time we do need help (we admit it) and so you may encounter:

Candice

Candice our part-time Optical Assistant is the first smiling face you are likely to enconter during your visit. She has special knowledge about contact lenses.

Abha

Abha is another of our optical assistants and has an interest in the latest lens materials and designs.

Kate

Kate works with us on Thursdays and does a great job keeping the books in order as well as helping out from time to time.

Terrie

Terrie has an uncanny knack in being able to fix or modify almost any pair of glasses. If you need something tricky ask Terrie!
